Robert Davi, who co-starred in several prominent 1980s films, appeared on Fox Business Wednesday to criticize the Democratic leadership in California for a myriad of problems that he says prompted him to leave after nearly 50 years.

Speaking on “The Evening Edit,” Davi detailed his frustrations with how he says California’s Democratic leadership has handled environmental and policy issues. Davi said the state needs substantial wildfire prevention measures, such as brush and reservoir maintenance, which have been grossly neglected. Davi said that in 1990 that former Republican Gov. Pete Wilson introduced a bill to build reservoirs to collect rainwater. Davi said the bill failed because Democrats “killed it.”

“I think President Trump should do a national referendum on that. He should meet with maybe [Arnold] Schwarzenegger, who understood the environmental issues, and not pretend he understood them like Newsom does for photo ops,” Davi told host Elizabeth MacDonald.

Davi also talked about what he said were the restrictive water use policies imposed throughout the state, including the infamous 38-gallon limit that applied even to affluent areas like Beverly Hills.

“That is the frustration in the left. They don’t solve problems. They create problems. When I was in California, as I said, 46 years, we left three years ago. You had to have, as President Trump said, 38 gallons. That wasn’t just in Beverly Hills, that was in a lot of parts of California,” Davi said. “You couldn’t water your lawns. You couldn’t do certain kind of irrigation because they were conserving. I think there should be conditions, absolutely, when you have a political body, as in California, that are basically run by the Democrats, that are not really taking care of this, that state, that beautiful state at one time, and have done policies in terms of crime, in terms of the environment.”

Davi said he wants stringent conditions applied to aid provided to California.

“The Hollywood community, I have to go back at that because they’re so vocal on everything, except this. It’s quiet. I still haven’t heard a soundbite from Jimmy Kimmel or Stephen Colbert or any of the Hollywood elites talking about [how] Gavin Newsom has to be held accountable for what happened in California,” Davi said. “And until they start stepping up and saying the truth to the people of California, so they understand what the issues are, and I think there should be conditions, absolutely.”

As wildfires ravaged Los Angeles County, a group from Altadena defied evacuation orders to protect their neighborhood. Amidst the wildfires that ignited in Eaton Canyon and quickly spread to Pasadena and Altadena, three homeowners and several volunteers braved 80 mph winds to defend the homes along Boston Street.

For years, experts warned that Southern California was a tinderbox at risk of severe wildfires. Residents said Newsom did not effectively implement a crucial 2019 wildfire strategy, overlooked critical wildfire prevention measures, and allowed a major reservoir to remain empty.

Davi has appeared in such films as “The Goonies,” “License To Kill,” and “Die Hard.”
