Former President Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her husband, Jared Kushner, are reportedly working to stay close to the former president while distancing themselves from his election claims.

According to 12 former White House officials, former administration officials, family friends, acquaintances and members of the former president’s team, “The gap between Trump and his daughter and son-in-law grows wider by the week,” as CNN reports.

The outlet notes, “A large part of the reason for the separation is Trump’s constant harping on the past and his inability to move on.”

Donald Trump has also started to question the role Kushner plays in his legacy. Still, the person close to Kushner said, “He knows Trump acknowledges his successes.”

According to two acquaintances, Ivanka Trump is seeking a less complicated relationship with her family.

“They described her as having to walk a fine line between embracing her father and distancing herself from his election lies,” the CNN report reads.

Sources also told CNN Ivanka Trump and Kushner were rarely seen with the former president at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

“They weren’t around for the usual spring and summer events at Mar-a-Lago,” one clubgoer and family friend said.

During an interview on Real America’s Voice this week, the former president said he “never” conceded that he lost the election to President Joe Biden, as IJR reported.

“No, I never admitted defeat. We have a lot of things happening right now… All you have to do is read the newspapers and see what’s coming out now. The word is concede. I have not conceded,” Donald Trump said.

He also reiterated his disappointment with former Vice President Mike Pence for not trying to overturn the outcome of the election. Pence did not have the power to do so.

“I was disappointed that he didn’t send it back. I felt he had the right to send it back, and he should’ve sent it back. That’s my opinion…I think you would have found that you might very well have a different president right now had he sent ’em back,” Donald Trump continued.

An The Associated Press fact check explains, “To be clear, no widespread corruption was found and no election was stolen from Trump.”
