SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly and former Trump White House advisor Steve Bannon ripped into CBS host Margaret Brennan’s “laziness” during her interview with Vice President JD Vance, saying she was no match for him.

Vance appeared on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, where Brennan pressed him on questions about the economy, immigration, and the Trump administration’s future plans. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Kelly criticized Brennan’s attempt to challenge Vance, praising the vice president for choosing to appear on legacy media for his first interview.

“JD’s very smart to go on with Margaret Brennan because some people said, ‘Why is he going to CBS? It’s the enemy. Look what they did to him in the vice-presidential debate.’ I thought, ‘No, he’s very smart because she’s adversarial. She’s going to try to punch him. She’s nowhere near his intellectual equal,” Kelly said.

“‘So he knows he can just slice and dice her with ease and do it as behaving as a gentleman, but leave everybody with the same impression, which is she is no match for him. Her arguments are no match for his,’” Kelly added.

Kelly went on to play a clip of the interview in which Vance said that the U.S. was not properly vetting immigrants. Brennan then attempted to push back, saying it was a “very particular case,” before Vance responded, “I don’t really care, Margaret. I don’t want that person in my country. I think most Americans agree with me.”

Bannon weighed in.

“He does it [like] such a gentleman. I mean, finally, the exasperation when they’re just going to continue on and continue on and continue on, all of them. I think this is why they’ve lost the backing of the American people. It’s why the ratings are a disaster, why the cost of these things,” Bannon said.

“They’re going through and cutting everybody’s salary. Their salaries are outrageous in the first place, cutting salaries. You see right there in JD. He tries. He makes an argument, puts the facts out. It just continues on, continues on,” Bannon added. “I mean, it’s not an interview. It’s a debate. right? Finally, he says, ‘Look, I don’t care.’ And the American people don’t care. Next question, which I think is great.”

Within his first week, President Donald Trump’s administration began following through on his campaign vow to shut down the U.S. southern border and conduct mass deportations. With the reversal of former President Joe Biden’s policies, acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Benjamin Huffman said ICE agents would be able to arrest “criminal aliens,” including rapists and murderers.

In addition to addressing illegal immigration, Trump signed an executive order to end birthright citizenship, a topic Vance was  asked about on Brennan’s show. Kelly played a clip of the interaction, where Vance said the U.S. shouldn’t have the “dumbest immigration policy in the world.”

“Steve, it’s amazing. Is that stupidity on her part or just liberal bias?” Kelly asked.

“I think it’s just laziness. I think they’ve controlled the apparatus for so long. I mean, you’ve seen this. You know these people, they’ve gotten lazy. That’s one of the reasons they were caught by surprise on 5 November. One of the reasons that MSNBC’s ratings dropped by two thirds is that they lied to their audience. Their problem is credibility,” Bannon said.

The former White House advisor said MSNBC, along with other legacy media, had pushed former Vice President Kamala Harris’ election night performance, adding they convinced voters she would win.

“They outright lie, and they will lie because they’ve controlled. They control every institution. They control the institutional power in the country, and they got very lazy,” Bannon added. “They never thought a startup group like MAGA, these kind of populist nationalists with no money and really no institutional power, could get in back of someone like President Trump. It’s the reason they treated Trump so badly.”

In a recent polling breakdown on CNN, data reporter Harry Enten said Republicans hold a 22-point lead over Democrats on immigration. He also said the number of Americans believing that the country is on the right track for immigration jumped from 14% in December to 37% in January, post Trump’s inauguration.
