The family attorney for Lance Reddick is taking issue with the cause of death printed on the actor’s death certificate.

Attorney James Hornstein issued a statement to Fox News addressing the statement from the coroner declaring Reddick’s cause of death as heart disease.

After the death certificate was released, Hornstein said, “The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle.”

He continued, “I have represented Lance Reddick for many years and continue to represent his wife Stephanie. The coroner’s statement on the death certificate is not a result of an autopsy. No autopsy was performed on Lance. To my knowledge, no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions.”

According to Hornstein, “Lance was the most physically fit person I’ve ever known. He exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home. He ate as if a dietitian was monitoring his every meal.”

He added, “On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”

In March, it was reported that Reddick died at the age of 60.

Reddick was known for his roles in “The Wire,” the “John Wick” movies, and Amazon series “Bosch.”

At the time of his death, Reddick received praise from several on Twitter.

“Consummate professional, devoted collaborator, lovely and gentle man, loyal friend. Could go on, but no, I can’t go on. This is gutting. And way, way, way too soon,” creator of “The Wire” David Simon tweeted.

Wendell Pierce, a co-star of Reddick’s wrote, “A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class.”

He added, “An sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP.”

His publicist, Mia Hansen, said in a statement at the time of his death that it was a result of natural causes.
