Border czar Tom Homan criticized Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Fox News Wednesday for overlooking the massive drop in crimes after the Trump administration sealed the border.

Ocasio-Cortez made comments about Homan’s appearances on Fox News and other media outlets, where she said he and other law enforcement officials divert resources from serious crime fighting. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Homan fired back by highlighting the effectiveness of his team’s efforts under the current administration.

“I take pleasure in the fact I can live in her mind rent free every day. That means I’m over the target. That means I’m making a difference. Bottom line is she needs to look at the data,” Homan told host Laura Ingraham. “ICE is out. We’ve already arrested more criminal illegal aliens in six weeks than the Biden administration did in a year.”

Homan pointed to a 96% reduction in illegal immigration, arguing that these statistics have led to fewer instances of crimes.

“The border is sealed. [Exactly] 96% had declined illegal immigration. And when 96% less people are coming across that border, how many children aren’t dying? How many women aren’t being sex trafficked? How many known suspected terrorists aren’t getting in the country? How many pounds of fentanyl isn’t getting in to kill Americans? This administration has done more for the safety and security of New York than she’s ever done or ever will do,” Homan said.

Homan said that the achievements in securing the border and enhancing safety have surpassed any efforts made by Ocasio-Cortez.

“So we’re going to keep doing what we do. I’m not running a popularity contest. If she don’t like me, I’ll wear that as a badge of honor. That means I’m doing the right thing,” Homan said.

Ocasio-Cortez has been picking fights with Homan, targeting him during a live-streamed virtual event titled “Know Your Rights With ICE” on her Facebook page, where she advised undocumented immigrants on how to deal with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids. She also offers tips on her website on how to evade federal agents, including not opening the door and remaining silent.

Homan called Ocasio-Cortez “the dumbest congresswoman” for her active opposition to ICE operations. He warned that her advice to undocumented immigrants on evading ICE could lead to consequences.
