As the nation continues to combat the coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump is speaking out in support of one thing that will help Americans slow the spread.

Appearing in an interview on Fox Business on Wednesday, Trump expressed his approval for the use of masks after receiving criticism for reportedly not wearing one himself.

Trump was asked why not have a nationwide mandate to wear masks.

He explained he is not sure there needs to be a mandate considering some places practice social distancing and reiterated he encourages the use of masks.

“I don’t know if you need mandatory because you have many places in the country where people stay very long distance, you talk about social distancing,” Trump said.

He added, “I’m all for masks, I think masks are good.”

Trump was asked if he were in a group of people would he wear a mask.

He claimed he has worn a mask in that situation and people have seen him wearing one.

Trump argued he is usually not in a situation where he is gathered with a group of people with less than 10 feet between each other.

He noted everyone is tested before they are able to see him because he is the president.

Trump was asked if the public will see him wearing a mask at some point.

“I mean I’d have no problem. Actually, I had a mask on, I sorta liked the way I looked,” Trump said.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany weighed in on the matter during a press briefing on Tuesday, as IJR previously reported.

She said it is Trump’s “decision whether to wear a mask.”

Trump has received backlash from other lawmakers for not wearing a mask.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) called on Trump to “lead by example” and “put a mask on it,” as IJR previously reported.
