A New York-based ice cream company issued a voluntary recall of 91 products, which could possibly be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The Ice Cream House said it was recalling all dairy and non-dairy ice cream products due to the potential health risk of Listeria monocytogenes, according to the press release from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Products that have been recalled by the Ice Cream House were sold at the Ice Cream House in Brooklyn, New York, and grocery stores in New York, New Jersey, and Ohio, according to the FDA.

Listeria monocytogenes is described as being, “an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” according to the FDA’s press release.

The recall from the ice cream company is linked to the “Soft Serve On The Go” cups which were previously recalled by Real Kosher Ice Cream Inc. Two cases of people getting sick with Listeria were reported, one from Pennsylvania and one from New York, according to Penn Live. Both people were reported as being hospitalized, but no deaths have occurred.

“Ice Cream has a long shelf life and may still be in the freezers of consumers,” the FDA warned. “Consumers should check their freezers and throw away the recalled ice cream products or return it to the place of purchase.”

Listeria can lead to symptoms of fevers, severe headaches, abdominal pain, and nausea. Miscarriages and stillbirths can also be caused by Listeria infections in women, according to the FDA.
