Well-known pastor and Christian author, Timothy Keller, will receive hospice care at home following his release from the hospital.

On May 18, Timothy Keller’s son, Michael Keller, gave an update on his father’s Twitter page.

“Today, Dad is being discharged from the hospital to receive hospice care at home. Over the past few days, he has asked us to pray with him often. He expressed many times through prayer his desire to go home to be with Jesus,” he wrote.

Michael Keller added, “His family is very sad because we all wanted more time, but we know he has very little at this point.”

He also revealed the prayer that Timothy Keller, 72, prayed two nights ago.

“I’m thankful for all the people who’ve prayed for me over the years. I’m thankful for my family, that loves me,” Michael Keller shared on his father’s behalf.

Continuing, he wrote, “I’m thankful for the time God has given me, but I’m ready to see Jesus. I can’t wait to see Jesus. Send me home.”

Hebrews 13:14 says, “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”

In December 2021, Timothy Keller announced on his Twitter page he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer. However, he continued to trust God despite his grave diagnosis.

“But it is endlessly comforting to have a God who is both infinitely more wise and more loving than I am. He has plenty of good reasons for everything he does and allows that I cannot know, and therein is my hope and strength,” he added.

In a separate tweet, the former pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, acknowledged the prayers extended to him, which he said he “deeply appreciates,” but revealed the real reason behind his announcement.

“But my main purpose in the last post was to show that having a God who in some ways is beyond our comprehension (esp regarding evil and suffering) is more of a spiritual strength than it is an intellectual problem,” he wrote.

He is the author of several The New York Times best selling books.
