Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is facing a federal investigation into his taxes. But he says he is confident the investigation will clear him of wrongdoing.
During an interview on “CBS This Morning,” Hunter Biden was asked by journalist Anthony Mason, “There’s a federal tax investigation. Where does that stand now?”
“They’re investigating. I can’t really talk about that other than to say, I’m fully cooperative, and I’m fully confident that at the end of the day, it’s all going to be fine,” Hunter responded.
When asked if his legal team was working on a plea deal, he said, “Oh no, I’m fully certain that what we’re doing is being completely cooperative with whoever is asking from any authority whatsoever.”
Mason noted that during the presidential campaign, opponents of the elder Biden alleged that he benefited from Hunter Biden’s business dealing.
However, during the interview, he asserted that Joe Biden did not receive any money from his business dealings “directly or indirectly.”

In a statement in December 2020, Hunter Biden revealed that he was under investigation for his “tax affairs.”
“I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,” he said, adding, “I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of a professional tax advisor.”
The Biden transition team also said in the statement, “President-elect Biden is deeply proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.”
And Joe Biden told reporters that he is “confident” his son did nothing wrong.
