“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin claimed Thursday that Republicans are only able to win elections by stealing them or by attacking minorities.

“I go back to what LBJ said a long time ago … ‘If you convince the lowest white man he is better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you,’” Hostin said. “That is what they are doing, they are attacking the LGBTQ+ community because they have no real platform, they have no real programs and they are so out of step with this country the only way that they win is by stealing the election or doing things like this, and that is the truth.”

States like Montana, Kentucky, and Utah have passed legislation that restricts sex change procedures on minors. Parents in multiple states have sued school districts for secretly socially transitioning children.

“This has been tried,” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said. “It’s called fearmongering.”

“It has worked in the past, and it’s worked over, and over and over again and I will tell you that I completely agree this is a cudgel, a political cudgel, that is being used as a culture war. Only 1.6% of American adults are now transgender or nonbinary — 1.6%,” Hostin said. “Then why do you choose that group to attack?”
