Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) is speaking out against Republicans who have been silent on President Donald Trump’s refusal to concede the election.

CNN’s Jake Tapper noted Trump has “done everything he can to subvert the process” and overturn the results of the election. He asked Hogan if he still believes the president will eventually “do the right thing” and concede.

“Well I have confidence on Jan. 20 the president-elect is going to be sworn in. But I’m not sure, you know, I could say that I’m confident that the president’s going to do the right thing,” Hogan said.

He argued Trump’s pressure on legislatures to change election results was “completely outrageous.”

“We used to go supervise elections around the world and we were the most respected country with respect to elections and now we’re beginning to look like we’re a banana republic. It’s time for them to stop the nonsense. It just gets more bizarre every single day and frankly, I’m embarrassed that more people in the party aren’t speaking up.”

Trump’s chances of remaining in the White House are dwindling.

He would need to change the results in at least three large states.

He has failed to change the outcomes in states including Georgia, Michigan, and Arizona, as IJR previously reported.

Trump’s legal team continues to take action based on unsubstantiated claims of widespread voter fraud.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said, “And what’s happened here is quite frankly, the conduct of the president’s legal team has been a national embarrassment.”

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) slammed Trump for refusing to accept his loss, as IJR previously reported.

“Having failed to make even a plausible case of widespread fraud or conspiracy before any court of law, the President has now resorted to overt pressure on state and local officials to subvert the will of the people and overturn the election,” Romney said.

He added, “It is difficult to imagine a worse, more undemocratic action by a sitting American president.”
