Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton stressed how critical it is to vote in the upcoming presidential election as she explained why she believes President Donald Trump needs to be voted out of the White House in November.

During her virtual speech on the third night of the Democratic National Convention, Clinton recounted conversations she has had with voters who now regret casting their vote for Trump in the 2016 election.

“For four years, people have said to me, ‘I didn’t realize how dangerous he was. I wish I could go back and do it over. I should have voted,'” Clinton recalled.

Clinton went on to stress the importance moving forward and focusing on the current Democratic goal — increasing voter turn out despite the pandemic.

The former U.S. Secretary of State encouraged Americans to take advantage of the many options available to vote as she suggested that voters get involved in local elections.

“This can’t be another woulda-coulda-shoulda election. If you’re voting by mail, request your ballot now, and send it back as soon as you can. If you vote in person, do it early. Bring a friend and wear a mask. Become a poll worker,” Clinton said.

Highlighting the various ideals and policies at stake during this election, Clinton urged voters to use their voice like their “lives and livelihoods are on the line.”

“Vote for the America we saw in the roll call last night: diverse, compassionate, full of energy and hope,” Clinton said. “Vote like our lives and livelihoods are on the line because they are.”

Clinton concluded with words of confidence as she encouraged Americans to cast their vote for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden his vice-presidential pick Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.).

She added, “So come November, we will be strong together. We will heal together. We will redeem the soul and promise of this country together. We will elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris—together.”
