Vice President Kamala Harris is taking heat for what can charitably be described as an ill-advised tweet sent from her account about the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade.

After the decision was announced, Harris’ Twitter account shared a picture of her watching coverage of the decision on CNN.

“I know there are women out there who are afraid. To those of you who feel alone and scared: I want you to know the President and I are fighting for you and your rights,” the caption stated.

It added, “We are in this fight together.”

Is the White House social strategy to tweet “damn that’s crazy” every 16 hours? https://t.co/vlaRSYZKEz

Cool. So what‘s the game plan? Be specific. Or is this a veiled “thoughts and prayers” scenario? https://t.co/GIKT3HKXui

proud to state that I am also in this fight (watching television) https://t.co/Gu6vH1zlpH

Who was the strategist that decided a photo op on a taxpayer funded private plane both physically and metaphorically above the people watching pensively while not demonstrating action was a good idea? https://t.co/AmlVzwvN7a

I want you to know: we are watching TV https://t.co/vVJnEcVpLE

you could try and try but you would not invent a more cutting visual metaphor for the democrats’ total detachment from the abortion fight than this https://t.co/1oO2NFuQGi

Um. 36,000 feet above everything, watching on a big ass TV in a private plane, and the message is "we're in this together"? I'm not sure you guys get where the rest of us are at right now. https://t.co/nJBkd7G3lW

To be fair to the Biden administration, it is not exactly clear what steps they can take on a federal level in response to the ruling, which leaves the decision on regulating abortion up to the states.

But as many pointed out on Twitter, sharing a picture of the vice president watching TV in what appears to be a private office on Air Force Two literally thousands of feet above the people is great if you’re trying to look disconnected and powerless.

If you’re trying to show that the administration is locked in and focused on addressing an issue — that’s not something like a natural disaster and totally out of their hands — it’s not a good look.
