Vice President Kamala Harris is facing mockery for her attempt to share an example of a cultural connection between the U.S. and South Korea.

On Thursday, Harris said during an event with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, “South Korea and the United States… also share strong culture and people-to-people ties.”

She continued, “K-Pop bands — they top the billboards in the United States, including BTS who I had the great pleasure of meeting… I also think of the Emmy award-winning TV shows like ‘Squid Game’ — which I will confess Doug and I binge-watched at home over a series of weeks.”

Harris added, “These are examples of cultural ties and the intertwined history between our nations.”

The "Squid Game" was great, but in terms of "cultural ties" and "intertwined history"…it was too cartoonish to offend me, but the portrayal of Americans was a tad, shall we say, grotesque. So it's extremely weird that Kamala should make that particular point. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

"They have towns in Korea.. we *also* have towns of Korea here in America.. we call them Koreatown"

Of all the things that bind the US and S Korea, her speech writers could only come up with pop bands and squid games-

It's hard to imagine a more lightweight, embarrassing moment in US foreign affairs. https://t.co/HsyCSnPlf8

Harris’ comments referred to the hit South Korean survival drama “Squid Game” which became the most popular show on Netflix in 2021.
