Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” made history by becoming the first non-broadcast network late-night show to take the most-watched award for an entire month.

The show, which has only been on the air for about a year and a half, had more viewers than ABC, CBS and NBC for the entire month of August, according to Mediaite.

Greg Gutfeld, who hosts the talk show, took his competition averaging 2.19 million viewers for the month, making it more watched than “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on CBS, which has previously held the title of “most watched.”

“The Late Show” was hot on the Fox News show’s heels averaging 2.15 million viewers, and “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” on NBC and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC rounded out the top three, and have been in the top spots, since January of 2017.

The success of “Gutfeld!” was memorialized by a press release from the Fox News network:

FNC’s Gutfeld! made television history, becoming the first late-night cable program to finish the month as the most-watched late-night show in all of broadcast and cable, outpacing CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for the month of August. This is the first time Colbert has been unseated as late-night’s highest-rated host for a full month in more than five years (January 2017).

According to Fox News, their entry into late-night programming, “Gutfeld!” debuted in April 2021 and gained popularity by providing a counterpoint to the far-left programming on other networks.

The unconventional roundtable format, which gives a platform to a mix of dependable regulars and newcomers, has drawn viewers to “Gutfeld!” despite the lack of heavily promoted Hollywood celebrities and the lack of resources compared to legacy late-night shows.

Host Greg Gutfeld had an all-around good month with another show he is part of, “The Five,” also coming in as the most-watched show in its 5 PM/ET time slot for the fifth consecutive month, according to Fox News’ press release.

The show averaged 3.4 million viewers, with 427,000 in the 25-54 demographic and 270,000 in the 18-49 demo. Those statistics made “The Five” more watched in every demographic than CNN and MSNBC.
