President Joe Biden has made addressing climate change a prominent feature of his administration. However, teenage activist Greta Thunberg says the new president is not taking the issue seriously enough.

During an interview with MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan, Thunberg said, “I would just like [Biden] to basically just treat the climate crisis like a crisis.”

“They have said themselves that this is an existential threat, and they better treat it accordingly, which they are not. They are just treating the climate crisis as it was a political topic among other topics,” she added.

Biden has set a goal of making the U.S. a carbon-neutral country by 2050 and has gone to work undoing many for former President Donald Trump‘s decisions to roll back environmental regulations.

While Thunberg argued that the Biden administration is not moving with a sense of urgency to combat climate change, the new president has placed a much larger focus on it than his predecessor — evening mentioning climate change in his inauguration speech.

Biden also appointed former Secretary of State John Kerry to serve in a newly created Cabinet-level position tasked with combating climate change. Kerry will also be a member of the National Security Council.

Additionally, on his first day in office, Biden signed an executive order to have the U.S. reenter the Paris Climate Agreement.

Time Magazine chose Thunberg as its 2019 Person of the Year for her activism.
