Former FBI Director James Comey will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify about his agency’s Russia probe, the committee’s chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) says.

Graham has been investigating the origins of the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” probe – which looked into whether members of President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign coordinated with Russian operatives to swing the election.

“The day of reckoning is upon us when it comes to Crossfire Hurricane,” Graham said during an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday night. He noted that Comey will appear before his committee on September 30.

He continued, “I appreciate Mr. Comey coming before the committee, and he will be respectfully treated but asked hard questions. We are negotiating with [former Deputy FBI Director Andrew] McCabe; we are hoping to get him without a subpoena — time will tell.”

However, he said that former Special Counsel Robert Mueller “has declined the invitation to the committee to appear to explain his report” because “he says he doesn’t have enough time.”

Graham’s committee launched its investigation into “all things related” to the Russia probe in June, as IJR reported.

He said his goal was to examine the origins of the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation, the Justice Department’s decision to file a motion to drop its prosecution of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, as well as the alleged Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant abuses, and Mueller’s probe.

So far, his committee has heard from former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
