Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is suggesting people be cautious about underestimating the appeal of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden to voters.
Speaking with radio host Hugh Hewitt on Thursday, Graham, who is a friend of Biden, was asked, “Has former Vice President Biden lost his step, or a lap, or even the energy necessary to run for president?”
The South Carolina lawmaker responded, “You know, ask me that in October. He’s doing well in his basement.”
Graham continued as he claimed Biden is “nicer than Hillary Clinton” and does not have “wild” policies like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt).
“Don’t underestimate Joe Biden. He’s nicer than Hillary Clinton. And he’s not as wild as Bernie Sanders on policy. He will be appealing at first glance, but what we have to do is associate him with an agenda that’s not appealing. He’s the front guy of a very dangerous agenda.”

Additionally, Graham said during the radio show that he believes Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) is the “leading candidate” for a potential running mate for Biden. He also said he believes Biden has put himself “in a box.”
The former vice president has vowed to pick a woman, but stopped short this week of committing to a woman of color as his vice president pick.
“I didn’t like what she did in Kavanaugh by any stretch of the imagination. But she’s hard-nosed. She’s smart. She’s tough,” Graham added.
A longtime Democratic pollster, Stan Greenberg, suggested that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is “the obvious solution” for Biden to choose as a running mate, as IJR reported.
In regards to his run to take on President Donald Trump in the November general election, Biden indicated on Wednesday that he would make known who his running mate is on August 1, as names circulate across the media of who he might be considering, as IJR also reported.
