Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is facing another resolution aimed at punishing him for his comments about the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

On Tuesday, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) tweeted, “This will be a privileged motion to censure [and] a $16 million dollar fine (half the cost of the Russia hoax investigation) meaning I WILL bring this vote to the house floor.”

“I will not back down from this and I, along with my Republican colleagues, look forward to holding Schiff ACCOUNTABLE for his actions,” she added.

Last week, Luna introduced a measure to expel Schiff from the House for the same reason, as IJR reported.

“Knowingly using your position on House Intel to push a lie that ripped apart our country, cost taxpayers millions of dollars, and authorized spying on a US President and then proceeding to double down on the lie within days of the Durham report coming out makes you unfit for office,” she wrote on Twitter.

Schiff responded to the two resolutions on Twitter, writing, “Last week a GOP Representative filed a motion to expel me from the U.S. House of Representatives. Just now that same representative filed a motion to censure and fine me—to the tune of $16 million. They aren’t getting the message: It will not work. I will not back down.”

The resolution comes after Special Counsel John Durham released his report detailing the conclusions of his investigation of the FBI’s Russia probe.

His report concluded the investigation was launched without a proper basis. It also laid out a series of criticisms about the FBI.

After Durham’s report was released, Schiff told MSNBC the investigation was “started in a flawed manner, it was conducted in a flawed manner, and its conclusion is a flawed conclusion.”

He also insisted it was a “wasted effort” and “four years of undermining the [Department of Justice] and a political prosecution.”

The California Democrat had previously claimed he had evidence members of former President Donald Trump’s campaign colluded with Russian operatives ahead of the 2016 election.

During an appearance on CNN in February, he defended his assertion as he said, “If you read the Mueller report, he makes clear even in the first few pages of the report that he states no conclusion on whether Donald Trump and his campaign colluded with the Russians.”

He went on to note former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation found Trump’s campaign manager shared internal polling data with a Russian operative.

Schiff added, “To most Americans, that is collusion. Now, whether it’s proof beyond a reasonable doubt of the crime of conspiracy — that’s what Bob Mueller was talking about — I have always distinguished between the two.”
