WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 05: Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) listens as Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) speaks at a press conference on the Senate’s upcoming procedural vote to codify Roe v. Wade at the U.S. Capitol Building on May 05, 2022 in Washington, DC. Earlier today Leader Schumer announced that the U.S. Senate would take up the vote to make abortion legal nationwide in the middle of next week, however the vote requires a sixty-vote threshold to pass, meaning it will likely fail. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) is introducing a bill that could force members of Congress to fight in a war.

On Thursday, Luna responded to a leak of her “Senators Can Help Underpin Military Engagement and Readiness Act” (SCHUMER Act) bill.

“To whoever leaked my bill: Congratulations, you played yourself,” she wrote on X.

Luna added, “I make no apologies. My bill, the SCHUMER Act, would require Members of Congress to fight on the front lines in Ukraine if they support Schumer’s calls for American sons [and] daughters to fight.”

The Daily Mail reported the legislation would “require Members of Congress who advocate for providing military support for Ukraine to enlist in the armed forces and to serve on active duty in support of a contingency operation.”

Luna’s bill was in response to a warning made by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) about funding for Ukraine.

During an appearance on MSNBC, Schumer warned lawmakers against rejecting the now-doomed immigration bill.

While the proposal was aimed at securing the U.S.-Mexico border. It also included $60 billion in more aid for Ukraine.

“If we don’t aid Ukraine, Putin will walk all over Ukraine. We will lose the war, and we could be fighting in Eastern Europe [as] a NATO ally in a few years. Americans won’t like that,” Schumer said.

The warning came as the U.S. has already offered $75 billion in aid to Ukraine.

However, on Wednesday, Republicans in the Senate rejected the border bill with its additional aid.
