A House Republican is warning her party about the political risks of impeaching President Joe Biden.

During an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) suggested there is evidence to support an impeachment proceeding.

“I will tell you the evidence that we have seen is overwhelmingly piling up. Some of it we can’t share cause it’s confidential, for example, the 170 plus suspicious activity reports pointing to money laundering, bribery, racketeering, and corruption,” Mace said.

She explained lawmakers will have to find other documents to prove or disprove allegations against the president that could be released to the public.

When asked about intraparty concerns about impeachment, the South Carolina lawmaker suggested there could be a political cost.

“Every time we walk the plank, we are putting moderate members… at risk for 2024. We are putting the majority at risk,” Mace responded.

She added, “And it’s not just impeachment that does that other issues like abortion, etc., also put those members on the plank.”

Finally, Mace urged Republicans to be “better” than former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) who she said “really politicized the impeachment process.”

“We do not want to do that here. We have to show overwhelming, undeniable evidence in order to move this thing forward. And we if can’t then we should not, but if we do then we ought to use every tool in the toolbox,” she added.

Conservative House Republicans have been increasing pressure to impeach Biden over corruption allegations.

And House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has raised the prospect of launching an impeachment inquiry.

However, he later appeared to tamp down expectations of impeaching Biden.

McCarthy told reporters an impeachment inquiry would give lawmakers the “apex of power” to obtain documents and other information for their investigation.

He denied he floated the idea of moving forward with an impeachment vote against Biden.
