Trump campaign lawyers Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis sought to distance President Donald Trump’s legal team from attorney Sidney Powell — who has made allegations of voter fraud.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team,” Giuliani and Ellis wrote in a statement on Sunday.

They added, “She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

However, Trump tweeted on Nov. 14 and named Powell to the list representing “a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives,” as the president wrote.

Giuliani’s statement comes after Powell recently claimed, without evidence, that millions of ballots cast were switched to President-elect Joe Biden. She also said over the weekend in a Newsmax interview, “Georgia is probably going to be the first state I’m gonna blow up.” She added that a lawsuit she plans to file against Georgia will be “biblical.”

Powell — who represents Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn — did not stay silent as she responded to Giuliani and Ellis’ statement.

Powell told The Wall Street Journal in an email statement, “I agree with the statement today. I will represent #WeThePeople and seek the Truth.”

“I intend to expose all the fraud and let the chips fall where they may,” she continued. “We will not allow the foundations of this great Republic to be destroyed by abject fraud.”

Powell received criticism for some over her recent claims, including from Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who said, “She never demonstrated that a single actual vote was moved illegitimately by software from one candidate to another. Not one.”

Trump has refused to concede the election after several major outlets projected Biden as the winner. He instead launched lawsuits in multiple states, however, attempts to overturn the election have failed in Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia. The campaign also faced a court setback in Pennsylvania. With the cases that remain, legal experts have suggested it would not be enough to deliver Trump a win in the presidential election.
