President-elect Joe Biden is poised to become the first Democratic presidential candidate in 20 years to win the state of Georgia in an election.

State officials have not yet certified the election results, and staffers for President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign claim that a recount of the votes in that state will reveal evidence of “improperly harvested ballots and other irregularities that will prove that President Trump won Georgia fairly.”

However, the state’s Lieutenant Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) dismissed those claims. During an appearance on CNN’s “New Day” Monday, he was asked if he had a reason to doubt other state officials’ statements that they have not found fraud.

Duncan responded, “My office has been in close communication with the secretary of state’s office and the attorney general’s office and made sure that if there’s any systemic examples of fraud or voter disenfranchisement across the voting base to let us know.”

He continued, “We’ve not had any sort of credible incidents raised to our level yet. And so we’ll continue to make sure that the opportunity to make sure every legal ballot is counted is there. But, you know, at this point, we’ve not seen any sort of credible examples.”

When pressed to reiterate his stance, Duncan confirmed that his office has not seen evidence of widespread fraud.

Since the Nov. 3 election, Trump has claimed that widespread voter fraud swung the election in Biden’s favor. During a press conference on Thursday, Trump declared, “If you count the legal votes, I easily win.”

“We will not allow corruption to steal such an important election — or any election for that matter,” he added.

The president also suggested that Democratic operatives are trying to “manufacture results” through ballot fraud.

Despite Trump’s claim, Republican officials in the battleground state of Pennsylvania — where the president is trailing Biden — have said that they have not seen evidence of fraud either.
