Former Vice President Joe Biden (D) is winning the support of one group of Republicans who oppose President Donald Trump.

The Lincoln Project, founded by George Conway and several other conservatives who oppose Trump, announced on Wednesday afternoon that it was throwing its support behind Biden.

“We are proud to endorse [Joe Biden] for President,” the group said in a tweet.

In continued, “As America contends with unprecedented loss, we need a leader who can steady the ship, heal our common wounds, and lead us into our next national chapter.”

“Joe Biden has the humanity, empathy, and steadiness we need in a leader,” the group added.

The Lincoln Project’s endorsement comes the same day that Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) announced he was suspending his presidential campaign, as IJR has previously reported.

The group has been highly critical of Trump, and in March, it released an ad comparing Trump to a virus.

A narrator says, “There’s a virus in the world. For some people, the virus is easy to see. Others don’t see it all. Some say the virus isn’t that bad. Others say it’s malicious and dangerous.”

“Since there are those who still can’t see it. Wouldn’t it be smart, to tell the truth about the virus?” The ad continues before showing a picture of Trump.

It adds, “Since there is a virus.”

In a separate ad, the group said the coronavirus outbreak has shown that Trump is “dangerously unfit” for the office of the president.

George Conway, the husband of Kellyanne Conway, who works for Trump, previously revealed that he had donated to Biden’s campaign, as IJR has previously reported.
