Former President George W. Bush announced the timeline of release for his upcoming book which will feature portraits of 43 immigrants.

On Thursday, Bush took to Instagram with a statement about his next projects which include a new book and an art exhibit which will be featured at The Bush Center.

The former president is currently working on an 18-month portrait project featuring the many shades of people who have migrated to the U.S.

According to Bush, the exhibit will honor “new Americans who have contributed to the cultural richness.”

“Today, I’m pleased to announce a new book and exhibit at [George W. Bush Presidential Center] honoring new Americans who have contributed to the cultural richness, economic vitality, entrepreneurial spirit, and renewed patriotism of our country,” Bush wrote on the social network. “As I said from the Oval Office in 2006, ‘America can be a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time.’”

Bush also expressed his hope for the project and the good he expects to come from it.

“My hope is that OUT OF MANY, ONE will help focus our collective attention on the positive effects that immigrants have on our country,” he added.

After he was succeeded by former President Barack Obama, Bush gravitated toward painting as a hobby. However, his paintings were not made public until his sister Dorothy Bush’s email was hacked in 2013, according to The Verge.

Some of his early portraits included self-portraits along with images of his father and former President George H.W. Bush, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the Dalai Lama. Marcel Lazar Lehel, the person who hacked the Bush family’s email addresses, was arrested for his actions.

However, the previous self-portraits opened the door for a new initiative for the former president. Bush’s book is now available for pre-order and set to debut on March 2, 2021.
