Attorney General Merrick Garland has told Congress the investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents is complete.

In a letter to the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate judiciary committees dated Feb. 7, Garland wrote, “I write to inform you that Special Counsel Robert K. Hur has concluded his investigation.”

He explained Special Counsel Robert Hur submitted his report from his investigation to the attorney general on Feb. 5, with “appendices and a letter from counsel.”

“Prior to submitting his report to me, Special Counsel Hur engaged with the White House Counsel’s Office and the President’s personal counsel to allow comments on this report,” Garland added. “That included review by the White House Counsel’s Office for executive privilege consistent with the President’s constitutional prerogatives.”

Garland noted, “The White House’s privilege review has not yet concluded.”

He also stated he is “committed to making as much of the Special Counsel’s report public as possible, consistent with legal requirements and Department policy.”

Garland’s letter comes days after Axios reported Biden’s team is nervous the report could be politically damaging to the president’s re-election bid.

On Sunday, Axios reported the concerns surrounding Hur’s investigation.

“Biden aides don’t expect criminal charges in the case, but they believe Hur’s report will include embarrassing details — possibly with photos — on how Biden stored documents,” according to the outlet.

Axios notes the president’s aides believe former President Donald Trump will seek to use the investigation into the current president’s handling of documents to compare to the criminal charges he is facing.

Even though they do not believe there will be criminal charges, Axios points out, “Biden aides expect the report’s details to be politically damaging.”

“Any photos of those storage practices could cause a political storm similar to what happened after the release of photos of Trump storing documents at Mar-a-Lago, including in a bathroom,” it added.
