A woman in China revived a frozen kitten using her hair dryer, displaying the power of a warm welcome.

The EcoWatch Insight Channel posted footage of the video, which displayed the woman finding the kitten as it cried out in the cold.

She brought the little animal into her home. Its body was stiff and looked lifeless, but she placed it in a sunbeam and gave it a blanket. When that didn’t seem to work fast enough, she tried using a hair dryer on the kitten.

The kitten began to grow responsive and eventually made a full recovery. She is now named Mimi and has been adopted by her savior.

According to National Geographic, cats originated in the Middle East. Despite a long history of travel and becoming domesticated, they still host various desert-dwelling habits, like burying their waste, as they would if living near sand.

Because of this, they are not as equipped to handle cold weather as some domestic breeds of dogs.

PedMD reported, “Even with a fur coat, cats that are exposed to cold environmental temperatures, especially when wet, can result in hypothermia, which in cats is defined as a body temperature below 100° F.”

Exposure to cold weather and wet conditions are the primary causes of hypothermia in cats. If a cat is found frozen, PetMd listed that the best thing to do is to get the animal into warm, dry conditions and wrap them in a towel or a blanket.

Hot water bottles are also recommended to bring a frozen cat’s body temperature up, but, as displayed in the video, the use of a blow dryer seems to be another great method of aiding an animal suffering from severe cold exposure.
