A former Democratic lawmaker is facing mockery for her explanation as to why Republicans want to “indict” President Joe Biden.

During an appearance on MSNBC, former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) was asked what “accusations and arguments” she thinks Republicans will make against the president after Hunter Biden’s plea deal fell apart in court.

“They’re going to keep doing what they’ve been doing. They are going to try to indict a father for loving his son, who has been addicted to drugs and or alcohol,” McCaskill responded.

She argued Republicans have no evidence of Joe Biden “doing anything other than loving” his son.

Republicans claimed Hunter Biden received a “sweetheart deal” and that his plea agreement was a sign of a two-tier system. However, on Wednesday, the plea deal fell apart in court and the younger Biden wound up pleading not guilty.

Conservative commentator Dana Loesch tweeted, “Joe loving his precious infant 53 year-old baby son Hunter means you have to look the other way when Hunter commits felonies the rest of us would be jailed for in a heartbeat.”

Conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings joked, “Everyone should send a letter to the IRS that says ‘my father loves me very much’ instead of their 1040.”

House Republicans ramped up calls to impeach Joe Biden after the release of an unverified FBI document known as an FD-1023 that contained allegations he was involved in a foreign bribery scheme.

According to the allegation in the FD-1023, an informant who the FBI described as “highly credible,” provided information about meetings that took place as early as 2015.

The informant shared information about a 2016 meeting allegedly involving Mykola Zlochevsky, the CEO of Ukrainian energy company Burisma, who claimed he made two $5 million payments to “the Bidens.” However, he did not specify which family members.

The FBI noted the informant could not “provide any further opinion as the veracity” of the allegations.

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Ian Sams said in a statement to CNN the allegations have been “debunked for years.”
