Football fans were left baffled by a tweet posted by the Dallas Cowboys about the team’s quarterback.

The team posted on Twitter after a loss to the San Francisco 49ers Sunday night commenting on Dak Prescott’s performance.

“Dak Prescott gave away the ball twice in the narrow loss to the 49ers, in a matchup the Cowboys had a chance to win if they didn’t again generate self-inflicted wounds,” the Cowboys tweeted.

It was not long before several Twitter users called out the Cowboys for throwing one of their own under the bus.

Meteorologist Vernon Turner tweeted a GIF along with the caption, “What the [Cowboys] did to Dak with this tweet.”

Another user wrote, “I am shocked that the [Dallas Cowboys] would post this about their franchise quarterback. This is NOT what a ‘team’ should be about. Who is in charge of social media? Damn shame.”

The 49ers claimed the victory over the Cowboys with a final score of 19-12.

Commenting on his interception total, Prescott said, “Ridiculous!”

He added, “I’ve got to be better. No other way to sugarcoat it.”

Prescott vowed the “number will never be this (high) again.”

Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, told Sports Illustrated, “My (commitment to Dak) is just as strong as ever. … I take (my chances with him) again and again and again.”

Additionally, Prescott is confident the team will be back.

“There’s no doubt that we’ll be back. No doubt at all,” he said.
