A Hillsborough County deputy in Florida responded to a 911 call to discover something unusual at the residence in question. Instead of finding a victim, he found a friend.

According to WFLA News 8, Deputy Scott Pracht went to check on a home where a disconnected 911 call was placed around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Fox 13 Tampa Bay, shared body cam footage mixed with ring doorbell footage of the incident where Pract found the home’s owner and asked, “Is this your home? Everything OK?”

The woman noted that there was nothing wrong but had an idea as to who made the call. She went into the house and called for her son. Dayana Del Valle said, “Bring your phone, come here.”

Then she turned to Pract and noted, “To be honest, he doesn’t even know what 911 is.”

Pract was understanding and offered to teach her son about it.

When the boy came out, his mother asked him, “Did you call this gentleman? Did you call the police?”

“Well, I wanted to give him a hug,” was the boy’s reply.

Del Valle asked, “You wanted to give him a hug?

Pract laughed as the boy’s mom went through her son’s phone history and found the disconnected 911 call.

The boy hugged Pract and said, “I know what your phone number is. It’s 911.”

Pract then explained, “Yeah. But you know what that’s for? It’s if you’re in trouble, and you need help, or if somebody you know is around you and that’s in trouble and needs help.”

“It’s very important,” he added. “You gotta be careful when you call that number, OK?”

The boy said, “OK.”

Pract then added, “Only in emergencies. And if you’re hurt, or someone else is hurt, your mom needs help, you know someone’s doing something they’re not supposed to do, you give us a call, okay?”

The boy agreed and even got a fist bump before Pract went on his way.

This moment was captured on Pracht’s bodycam and the home’s Ring doorbell camera.
