A recent firearms report suggests that actor Alec Baldwin may have pulled the trigger “sufficiently” enough to kill cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Forensics and ballistics experts in Arizona and New Mexico, Lucien Haag and Mike Haag found that the trigger of the prop Colt .45 used on the “Rust” set, “had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently” in order to lead to Hutchins‘ death, according to a report released on Tuesday, obtained by People.

“Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver,” the firearms report said.

“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report read.

On October 21, 2021, Baldwin set off a prop gun which led to the death of Hutchins and injured “Rust” Director Joel Souza.

The Santa Fe County District Attorney’s Office charged Baldwin and “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed with two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the tragic death of Hutchins.

Baldwin was cleared of the “Rust” shooting charges in April 2023.
