Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is calling for one of his fellow Democratic senators to be removed from the chamber.

During an appearance on ABC’s “The View” Friday, Fetterman was asked for his response to the news the House voted to expel Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.),

He focused on Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) as he said, “I think the more important picture is that we have a colleague in the Senate that actually does much more sinister and serious kinds of things. Sen. Menendez, he needs to go.”

“And if you are going to expel Santos, how can you allow somebody like Menendez to remain in the Senate? And, you know, Santos is kind of — his lies were almost, you know, funny and like he landed on the moon and that kind of stuff,” the Pennsylvania senator continued.

However, Fetterman said, “Whereas, you know, I think Menendez, I think is really a senator for Egypt. You know, not New Jersey. So I really think he needs to go.”

In September, Menendez and his wife were indicted on federal corruption charges. Officials allege the Democratic senator accepted bribes and used his position to benefit the Egyptian government.

He has denied the charges and refused to step down.

Fetterman suggested it was strange Menendez could stay in the Senate while Santos, who is also facing federal charges and was the subject of a scathing House Ethics Committee report, was expelled from the House.

When co-host Sunny Hostin asked if he was concerned there has not been an “adjudication” for Menendez, Fetterman said, “I am.”

However, he added the New Jersey senator has a “right for his day in court,” but “he does not have the right to have those kinds of votes.”

“And I think we need to make that kind of decision to send him out,” Fetterman added.
