Fed Up New Yorkers Confront Man Tearing Down Hostage Posters

In the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel, there have been a lot of demonstrations in favor of and against Israel.

Some people have concerns with the way Israel has treated the Palestinians. Some people hate the idea of Israel. Still, others just seem to hate Jewish people and their existence.

And in America, they have a right to share those views no matter how uninformed or repugnant they are.

But there is one act, in response to the crisis, in particular, that is really inexplicable: tearing down posters featuring the images of some of the hundreds of hostages being held by Hamas. Videos have surfaced of students tearing down the posters at universities and a dentist was fired after he was caught in the act.

One video showed a smiling student at New York University expressing pride as she covered torn-up hostage posters with messages about a walkout to stand in solidarity with Palestinians.

On Friday, a video surfaced of a man walking through the streets of New York City casually tearing down those posters.

Eventually, a group of New Yorkers confronted the man, as one was seen saying, “I’m not f***ing Jewish, he’s not Jewish, I don’t know if he is or not. Doesn’t f***ing matter. This is f***ing the USA. This is New York City. You don’t have a f***ing right to touch that sh*t.”

“This is a free country. You can wave your Palestine flag and say ‘Death to the Jews’ or America whenever you want, but we can put up f***ing signs… You’re offending us, motherf***er,” he continued.

When the man tearing down the posters asserted they were a form of litter, the man confronting him said, “Yeah, you are when you throw that on the floor, you’re littering the city. In a minute, I’m going to litter the f***ing floor with you.”

He might have been a little aggressive with his language and approach for some.

But unless the individual in this video is on a crusade against all signs in the city and not just ones featuring kidnapped Jewish people, it is understandable these guys would be upset.

What is the reason for tearing down signs to bring awareness to people being held hostage? They’re posters. They just sit there. They’re not hurting anyone. They’re not calling for the destruction of Gaza or war or violence. What in the world could possibly be offensive about that?

Israel and other countries are trying to recover the hostages peacefully.

But in the meantime, why not continue to bring awareness to people who are probably very scared being held by terrorists and whose families are anxious to get them back and worried about their well-being and how they’re being treated?
