Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel spoke out against the Democratic Party in the wake of the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Florida home.

“This is unprecedented, it’s deeply concerning,” McDaniel said of the raid on Trump’s estate Mar-a-Lago during an interview on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday.

The Republican committee chairwoman said she thought the excuse for the raid was particularly troubling saying “to see this being done through the presidential archives act is–is such an overreach and it’s just a long history of what this government’s done to Donald Trump.”

McDaniel reminded viewers of other invasions on the former president’s privacy, pointing to the warrant that was issued to spy on his campaign before the 2016 presidential election saying, “FISA warrant out to spy on his campaign and now we’re watching the FBI raid a former president’s home.”

Fox News host Lawrence Jones asserted that it appeared there was a ploy to stop Trump from running for the White House again in 2024, questioning what the RNC’s mission was going forward.

McDaniel responded, saying “The first thing we have to do…is win it back in 2022. We have to win back the House. You saw Kevin McCarthy’s very strong statement yesterday, and we have to take the reins of power back.”

“The only way we can stop them is by winning back the House and the Senate. We’re four seats away on the House, one seat away from the Senate. And I will say this, the Democrats have had a huge fundraising advantage on the Senate candidates. So anybody listening, you’ve got to engage in a campaign,” she said.

The Republican chairwoman went on to encourage viewers about how they can get involved saying, “You’ve got to help donate to people like J.D. Vance and Herschel Walker and Adam Laxalt and Mehmet Oz and candidates across the country that are going to need our help so that we can get to the finish line and finally put checks on this power.”

Before the end of her comments on the subject, McDaniel again stressed the party’s point of view, saying that the raid on Trump’s home was an overreach of power and that Americans should see it as such:

“President Trump is right when he compared this to Watergate,” McDaniel said. “This is the government using an agency to spy on a potential opponent’s campaign. And this is truly frightening. It is not what our democracy stands for.”
