Dr. Anthony Fauci is sharing his thoughts regarding the transition to a Biden-Harris administration and what it means for tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Jake Tapper asked Fauci how problematic it is for efforts to combat the coronavirus if public health officials are not able to communicate with the Biden-Harris team.

“As you know, I’ve been through multiple transitions now, having served six presidents for 36 years and it’s very clear that that transition process that we go through … is really important in a smooth handing over of the information as well as it’s almost like passing the baton in a race,” Fauci said.

He added, “You don’t want to stop and then give it to somebody, you want to just essentially keep going.”

Tapper asked Fauci if he thinks it would be a good idea to work with the Biden-Harris team in terms of what is beneficial for public health.

“Of course, Jake that’s obvious. Of course, it would be better if we could start working with them,” Fauci said.

The co-chair of President-elect Joe Biden’s coronavirus advisory board, former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, revealed during his appearance on “Good Morning America” Friday what steps the administration might take to fight the coronavirus, as IJR previously reported.

“We’re not in a place where we’re saying shut the whole country down. We’ve gotta be more targeted. If we don’t do that, what you’re going to find is that people will become even more fatigued, schools won’t be open to children and the economy will be hit harder,” he said.

Biden’s Chief of Staff Ron Klain expressed his support for how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has handled stimulus negotiations and vowed to “have her back” in handling this, as IJR previously reported.
