Elon Musk Makes Declaration About Democratic Party of Today

CAPE CANAVERAL, FL - MAY 27: Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, participates in a press conference at the Kennedy Space Center on May 27, 2020 in Cape Canaveral, Florida. NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were scheduled to be the first people since the end of the Space Shuttle program in 2011 to be launched into space from the United States, but the launch was postponed due to bad weather. Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared where he believes the Democratic Party stands today.

A Twitter user named Tim Urban shared a diagram posted by Musk, saying, “Then a bunch of ppl responded w/ graphs showing that Republican politicians have moved farther right in that time than Dems have moved left.”

He explained, “It’s true that on aggregate, the right has moved more to the extreme than the left in Washington. But the small group on the far left has become very *culturally* powerful and out of fear, the rest of the left has often allowed them to speak (and make policies) for the whole left.”

Urban argued, “So even though the left hasn’t moved that far left (as is shown by voting results), the left is in a sense being held hostage by their extreme wing, making a lot of people who enthusiastically voted for Obama feel politically homeless today.”

Musk then responded, “I strongly supported Obama for President, but today’s Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists.”

In 2018, Musk responded to a Twitter user who said if he is “truly a conservative, (even though there was almost an even split in donations to Dems/Reps) then I say we should have more progressive people like him representing Republicans. Moreso, his affiliation is none of my business.”

The CEO explained, “Thanks Jack. To be clear, I am not a conservative. Am registered independent and politically moderate. Doesn’t mean I’m moderate about all issues. Humanitarian issues are extremely important to me and I don’t understand why they are not important to everyone.”

Earlier this week, it was announced that Musk would buy Twitter for $44 billion.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk said in a statement.
