X owner Elon Musk and actor James Wood battled it out following Musk’s decision to remove the block feature from the platform.

On Sunday, Wood responded to a post from a user on X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing disapproval of Musk’s announcement.

“If [Elon Musk] removes the ability to block concerted harassment by trolls or organized political entities, how will ‘X’ be any different from Jack Dorsey’s horrid Twitter?” Wood inquired.

Thank you. If @elonmusk removes the ability to block concerted harassment by trolls or organized political entities, how will “X” be any different from Jack Dorsey’s horrid Twitter?

Musk, whom I once championed, is only doing this to protect his advertisers anyway. Users of X… https://t.co/bR3oMU4f2P

Wood continued, “Musk, whom I once championed, is only doing this to protect his advertisers anyway. Users of X are mere pawns to turn the site into an electronic shopping mall.

Furthermore, Wood called Musk “just another greedy capitalist” after believing he was “a defender of free speech.”

“Disappointing, but not surprising,” Wood concluded.

Musk responded to Wood’s tweet, saying, “Then delete your account.”

After their spat, Wood posted a screenshot showing Musk blocked him.

“You prerogative, (sic) sir, which is exactly my point. Have a nice day,” he wrote in the caption.

Pretty fun blocking people who complain that blocking is going away.

How does the medicine taste? 😂😂

On Aug. 20, Musk poked fun at blocking Wood, writing, “Pretty fun blocking people who complain that blocking is going away. How does the medicine taste?”

On that same day, Wood posted a tweet thanking users on X for their support and assured them he would remain on the platform.

I’ve received such astonishing support from all of you, I’m truly humbled. The recurring theme in your many heartfelt DM’s was a fear that I would leave X.

I’ve have now decided I will never leave, and will only ever be silent when they find an excuse to remove my account.

Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs

— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) August 18, 2023

On Aug. 18, Musk responded to a tweet asking if “there ever a reason to block vs mute someone” and wanted “reasons.”

“Block is going to be deleted as a “feature”, except for DMs,” he stated.
