Actor Elliot Page, formerly known as Ellen Page, made bold statements about the transgender community.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, which aired on June 6 for its Pride Month special, “The Freedom to Exist — A Soul of a Nation Presentation,” Page asserted the transgender community won’t be going anywhere.

“There’s no debate to trans people’s existence — full stop,” said Page, who was assigned female at birth, but later publicly came out as a trans man in 2020.

Page continued, “It’s not a debate. We’re real.”

Furthermore, Page called the constant debate over the “existence” of transgender people appalling.

Page also described what it was like living with “gender dysphoria.”

“It’s being assigned a gender at birth based on your genitalia and that not being the reality of who you are. It especially became complicated as an actor because people would just go, ‘You’re an actor, just put on the f—— clothes,'” Page explained.

However, Page revealed, “It was so much more than that.”

In an excerpt from Page’s new book, “Pageboy: A Memoir,” Page recalled asking her mother if she could “be a boy” when she was 6 years old. Page’s mom said no.

Page further explained how it was “unfathomable” to her that she wasn’t a boy.

“Everyone around me saw a different person than I saw,” Page wrote in the book, via ABC News.

In 2020, the Oscar-nominated star of Juno announced on Instagram she was transgender.

“To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey,” Page wrote.

Continuing, Page wrote, “I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self. I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community.”

Page thanked the transgender community for its “courage,” “generosity,” and “ceaselessly working to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”

“I will offer whatever support I can and continue to strive for a more loving and equal society,” Page said.
