Former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump are remembering the fallen service members on Memorial Day.

“On this Memorial Day, we remember the fallen heroes who took their last breaths in defense of our Nation, our families, our citizens, and our sacred freedoms,” Donald Trump wrote in a statement on Monday. “The depth of their devotion, the steel of their resolve, and the purity of their patriotism has no equal in human history.”

Praising the fallen service members for making “the supreme sacrifice,” the former president added, “It is because of their gallantry that we can together, as one people, continue our pursuit of America’s glorious destiny.”

He continued:

“We owe all that we are, and everything we ever hope to be, to these unrivaled heroes. Their memory and their legacy is immortal. Our loyalty to them and to their families is eternal and everlasting.

America’s warriors are the single greatest force for justice, peace, liberty, and security among all the nations ever to exist on earth. God bless our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, Airmen, and Marines. We honor them today, forever, and always.”

Melania Trump also tweeted on Memorial Day, “Today we honor courageous fallen heroes who fought for our freedom!”

President Joe Biden also delivered remarks on Memorial Day. He said during his remarks in observance of Memorial Day, “On this Memorial Day we honor their legacy and their sacrifice. Duty, honor, country they live for it, they died for it — and we as a nation are eternally grateful,” as IJR reported on.

In his conclusion, the president said, “May God bless the United States of America and may the light perpetually shine upon the fallen. May God bring comfort to their family’s and may God protect our troops today and always.”
