Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) is sharing her frustration with lawmakers who refuse to acknowledge Joe Biden as president-elect.

“Each of us who are serving as senators took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. One of the most fundamental principles of the Constitution is the peaceful transition of power,” Shaheen said during an interview with CNN Friday.

She added, “These senators and members of Congress who have refused to acknowledge that we had a free and fair election in which Joe Biden beat Donald Trump by over 7 million votes, are bordering on sedition and treason.”

While some Republican lawmakers have acknowledged Biden’s win, others have stopped short of doing just that.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) addressed President Donald Trump’s departure from the White House but failed to outright call Biden the winner of the election, as IJR previously reported.

When a reporter asked him if he would call Biden the president-elect, DeSantis said, “It’s not for me to do, here’s what I would say…Obviously, we did our thing in Florida. The college voted. What’s going to happen is going to happen.”

He continued, “I think a lot of the frustration for folks that supported the president was…we were four years with people not accepting him. I mean Hillary, the last week of the election, was saying Putin stole it.”

Biden told late-show host Stephen Colbert he was personally frustrated with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) for refusing to recognize his victory, as IJR previously reported.

“Lindsey’s been a personal disappointment because I was a personal friend of his,” Biden said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) did congratulate Biden on his win Tuesday.

Following McConnell’s congratulations, Trump said it is “too soon to give up.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters Tuesday, Trump is “still involved in ongoing litigation related to the election.”
