A Democratic state representative interrupted Vice President Kamala Harris during a Christmas event in order to call for a ceasefire.

Delaware State Rep. Madinah Wilson-Anton was captured on video interrupting Harris as she was talking about the holiday season while holding up a sign with the words “Ceasefire.” Wilson-Anton continued to question Harris as to why she has not yet called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

“Madam Vice President,” Wilson-Anton can be heard saying in the video posted to X, formerly Twitter, by the Jewish Voice for Peace organization. “I’m the state rep. from Delaware.”

“Did you know that in Bethlehem they’re not celebrating Christmas?” Wilson-Anton continued. “Did you know that in Bethlehem baby Jesus is under rubble?”

A Lutheran Church in Bethlehem decided to place baby Jesus amid rubble in a nativity scene in order to represent a call for peace amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.

The priest, Rev. Isaac Munther, noted, “If Christ were to be born today, he would be born under the rubble and Israeli shelling.”

Wilson-Anton continued, “Why won’t you call for a ceasefire? Why won’t you call for a ceasefire?”

“We all believe in Democracy and the right of everyone to have their voice be heard, and so I appreciate you wanting to be heard, but right now I’m speaking,” Harris said as Wilson-Anton appeared to be escorted out of the event.

Wilson-Anton, who was elected to Delaware’s General Assembly in 2020, represents the 26th Representative District.

“Christmas is canceled in Bethlehem,” Wilson-Anton wrote in a post on X regarding the video from the event.

President Joe Biden and Harris have faced criticism over the handling of the war between Israel and Hamas and their continued support of Israel in the aftermath of Hamas’ attack, which left more than 1,400 people dead and more than 200 people taken as hostages.

At the end of November, Israel and Hamas agreed upon a weeklong truce in fighting which resulted in more than 100 hostages being released.

Since the ending of the truce, more than 40 White House interns addressed a letter to Biden and Harris demanding that they call for a permanent ceasefire. Several Democratic donors have also expressed frustration and betrayal with Biden over his handling of the Israel and Hamas conflict.
