A Republican senator is pushing back on the idea of invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Joe Biden.
During an episode of the “Verdict with Ted Cruz” podcast, host Michael Knowles claimed, “It seems clear, I think even to honest liberals, that Joe Biden has some age-related impairment. He’s not the man he was five or ten years ago, and he was never all that sharp to begin with.”
He insisted, “So, it does raise the question, should we be talking about invoking the 25th Amendment?”
“There’s no doubt he’s diminished and diminished significantly due to age. I think the threshold for the 25th amendment is really damn high. And it’s particularly damn high when the voters were on notice of the impairment and elected him anyway,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) responded.
He continued, “Look, it was not a secret a year and a half ago that Joe Biden had, you know, lost about 65 miles on his fastball. His fastball is a Wiffle ball.”
However, the Texas senator said, “I would be hesitant to go down that road of the 25th amendment. I think it’s dangerous as hell.”
“I think having a president in office who is less than fully aware of what’s going on. Who our enemies believe is less than fully aware of what’s going on. Who our friends believe is less than fully aware of what’s going on. Who everybody believes is, to a significant degree, out of it. That’s a real problem,” he added.

Additionally, Cruz claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine because “Biden is so weak and ineffective that he didn’t believe there would be meaningful pushback.”
Knowles chimed in and said he agreed with Cruz that Biden should not be removed via the 25th Amendment.
Earlier this week, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson blasted the president for his messaging about Russia, as IJR reported.
“For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power,” Biden said in Poland about Putin last weekend.
However, a White House official sought to clarify the president’s remarks, “The president’s point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region.”
“He was not discussing Putin’s power in Russia, or regime change,” the official stressed.
On Monday, Biden sought to clean up his weekend comments. He told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, “I just was expressing my outrage. He shouldn’t remain in power, just like, you know, bad people shouldn’t continue to do bad things.”
“But it doesn’t mean we have a fundamental policy to do anything to take Putin down in any way,” Biden added.
On Monday, Carlson said, “Alright, joke’s over. Too much is at stake. If there was in U.S. history ever a time to invoke the 25th Amendment, it is now.”
“As Joe Biden himself put it, ‘For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.’ For all of our sakes,” he added.
