Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is blasting Vice President Kamala Harris for not visiting the southern border, saying she is “afraid of what’s going on down there.”

During an appearance on Fox News on Friday, Cruz pointed out, “We had just last month over 180,000 people cross illegally last month.”

He added, “We’re on pace for 2 million people to cross illegally. And Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have zero intention of doing anything.”

Touching on Harris’ response to the situation at the border, Cruz said, “It’s almost like a comedy show. She’s so terrified. You know, it reminds me of that old show, ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’ She’ll go everywhere except the border because she’s afraid of what’s going on down there, and they have no solutions.”

He went on to accuse “angry forces on the left” of wanting to “tear down all of the pillars of American democracy.”

Cruz continued, “And we’ve got to answer the call, and we’ve got to stand up and defend this great nation.”

Harris received backlash in March after laughing when a reporter asked her about visiting the border.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) tweeted, “Don’t believe this administration when they say they are serious about solving this crisis.”

Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-AZ) also tweeted, “First, the Biden Administration refused to admit the situation at the border is a crisis, NOW Kamala Harris thinks this is a laughing matter. It isn’t a laughing matter for the border communities being deluged by illegal immigrants.”

When asked during an interview with Univision earlier this month when she will visit the border, Harris replied, “I will keep you posted.”

Two dozen House Republicans penned a letter on Thursday urging President Joe Biden to replace Harris as the official tapped to handle the surge of migrants, as IJR reported.

“This country cannot afford another minute of inaction from Vice President Harris. While you have publicly defended the Vice President, even you must be discouraged with her inaction,” they wrote.

The lawmakers continued, “We have all made mistakes in hiring and understand when someone else needs to be assigned to a task. We sincerely urge you to find someone else in your administration to assist you in getting a handle on this border crisis.”
