Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is shredding Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke for disrupting a press conference about the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting.
During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday night, Cruz said, “I was shocked. We were going through a briefing listening to law enforcement about precisely what had happened, about what the next steps were.”
“And it was disgusting. He strode to the front of the room and tried to turn it into a political rally. And I guess his campaign is flailing. He’s going to lose. But just after you ended that clip, the mayor of Uvalde turned to Beto and said, ‘You’re a sick son of a b****,'” Cruz continued.
He added:
“You’ve got grieving families. You’ve got a community that is broken to pieces. And to try to politicize it and turn it into a rally the way Beto did it was really…I’ve seen a lot of crass behavior, that was embarrassing and it was disgusting.”

During the event, O’Rourke was seen standing and trying to address Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).
“You are doing nothing,” O’Rourke said.
He added, “You said this was not predictable, this was totally predictable, and you choose not to do anything.”

Texas Lt. Gov Dan Patrick told him, “Sit down. You’re out of line and an embarrassment.”
Cruz was also on stage and told O’Rourke, “Sit down…don’t pull this stunt.”
Another man identified as Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin said, “You need to get his a** out of here. This isn’t the place to talk this over. Sir, you are out of line! … Please leave this auditorium.”
He also called O’Rourke a “sick son of a b****.”
Tuesday’s shooting at Robb Elementary School marks the second deadliest shooting at an elementary school in U.S. history.
Nineteen children and two adults were killed.
