It seems there is “certainty of a Donald Trump vs. Joe Biden rematch in November,” as USA Today puts it.

With former President Donald Trump leading in the polls against President Joe Biden, as of Feb. 22, voters are revealing who they want to see as Trump’s running mate if he becomes the party’s nominee.

At Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) over the weekend, attendees cast ballots, choosing out of 17 potential candidates, for who they want Trump to pick as his running mate in the November election.

In the straw poll, it found South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (R) and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy tied at 15%, followed by former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (R-Hawaii) at 9%.

Further, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) garnered 8%, as did Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) garnered 7%.

On Thursday at CPAC, Gabbard labeled Trump “a fighter,” adding, “His strength and resilience can only come from one place… his sincere love and concern for the future of our country.”

A senior GOP strategist close to Trump’s orbit told ABC News regarding Trump’s potential running mate, “I think it’s wide open. Trump keeps his cards very close.”

Additionally, CPAC’s straw poll found that Trump demolished Nikki Haley, 94% to 5%.

As IJR previously reported, Trump indicated during a town hall with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham who was on his short list.

They were: Scott, Ramaswamy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Doanlds, Noem, and Gabbard.

Trump spoke highly of Scott during the town hall, saying:

“You have to have somebody that would be a good president. A lot of people are talking about that gentleman over there. He’s been so great, such a great advocate. Tim Scott, he has been better for me than for himself. I watched his campaign and he doesn’t like talking about himself, he talks about Trump. I said, Tim, you are better for me than for yourself. He’s fantastic and a fantastic person.”

The South Carolina Republican primary was held over the weekend, where Trump won with 59.8% of the votes, compared to 39.5% for Haley, per The New York Times.

Super Tuesday will be on Tuesday, March 5, where “more than a third of all GOP delegates will be up for grabs” this year, as U.S. News & World Report writes.
