Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway is suggesting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has wasted several months by focusing on so-called “woke” issues.

Speaking on Fox News Thursday evening, Conway offered some criticism of the Florida governor’s performance over the last five months.

“I think Ron DeSantis has just frittered away so much of the last five and a half months talking about woke this and Disney that, not putting out an economic plan, not having serious policy people fly to Tallahassee en masse: an economic group, an education group, a Ukraine group, a crime group, a border group, just to go an listen to what some of the experts in your own party… have to say,” she explained.

She also argued DeSantis has a “really good record as Florida governor to run on.”

However, she suggested it is “ironic” because he will be “stuck in Florida or he’s going to be criticized for spending too much time out of Florida.”

Finally, Conway argued DeSantis made a “big mistake by allowing himself to be seen as the alternative to Trump, rather than as the alternative to Biden.”

Her comments come as DeSantis has revived his fight with Disney.

As CNBC noted, “DeSantis and his allies are ramping up their fight against Walt Disney Co., even as more of the possible Republican presidential candidate’s rivals criticize him for his long battle with the entertainment titan.”

It added he “ripped Disney repeatedly this week over its recent maneuvers to thwart the governor’s efforts to seize some control of the company’s Orlando parks and properties.”

“We’ll make sure that we keep them in their pen, one way or another,” he said during an event in South Carolina on Wednesday.

The governor also waded into the boycott of Bud Light after its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

“I think we have power as consumers to make our voice heard. And not on every company, because sometimes conservative consumers aren’t going to make a dent in some companies,” he told conservative commentator Benny Johnson, adding, “If you don’t have conservative beer drinkers you’re going to feel that. And so I think it’s a righteous thing.”

He also argued the partnership was part of a “larger thing where corporate America is trying to change our country, trying to change policy, trying to change culture.”

“I’d rather be governed by we the people than woke companies. And so I think pushback is in order across the board,” he added.

After his double-digit election victory in November, polls appeared to show DeSantis had an edge over former President Donald Trump in the primary. However, since then, the situation appears to have reversed, with some surveys showing him trailing the 45th president by double digits.
