Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is arguing the rationale put forth by President Donald Trump’s legal team to overturn election results is unreasonable.

ABC’s Martha Raddatz noted Christie has urged Trump to concede the election.

She asked him what his message is to the Republicans who backed a Texas lawsuit to overturn election results in four states.

“Listen, the legal theory put forward by his legal team and by the president is an absurdity and the reason why the Supreme Court didn’t take it is because it’s an absurd idea to think that any state, or any number of states, no matter how good they are, can challenge another state’s right to run the election as they see fit and also there’s no evidence,” Christie said.

He stressed there is no evidence of election fraud.

Chris Christie says the Trump legal team's “legal theory" is "an absurdity."

"The reason the Supreme Court is not taking this is not because of a lack of courage. It’s for the same reason that every court has thrown this out — it’s a lack of evidence.” https://t.co/r76YmIsuS4 pic.twitter.com/WTJXeMc7QC

Christie criticized Trump for his attacks on Republican governors over their refusal to help him overturn election results.

He turned his attention to the reason behind the Supreme Court’s decision not to accept the Texas case.

“The reason the Supreme Court is not taking this is not because of a lack of courage. It’s for the same reason that every court has thrown this out — it’s a lack of evidence,” Christie added.

The Supreme Court announced it rejected the case Friday, as IJR previously reported.

“Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another state conducts its elections,” the court said.

The president took to Twitter Saturday to share his thoughts on the matter.

“The Supreme Court had ZERO interest in the merits of the greatest voter fraud ever perpetrated on the United States of America. All they were interested in is ‘standing’, which makes it very difficult for the President to present a case on the merits. 75,000,000 votes!” Trump wrote.

Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud remain unsubstantiated.
