Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is blasting one of his presidential primary rivals for “enabling” the 45th president.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, Christie blasted former President Donald Trump for claiming during a rally that illegal immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

“The other problem with this is the Republicans who are saying this is OK, almost 100 members of Congress who have endorsed him,” the former New Jersey governor said.

He went on to take a shot at fellow 2024 Republican presidential hopeful and former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley for saying Trump is fit to be president.

“You’re telling me that someone who says that immigrants are poisoning the blood of this country, someone who says Vladimir Putin is a character witness, is fit to be president of the United States? Was the right person at the right time?” Christie said.

He added, “Nikki Haley should be ashamed of herself. She’s part of the problem because she’s enabling him. She’s enabling him by saying to people: ‘It’s OK.’”

During an interview with ABC News last week, Haley was asked if she believes Trump is fit to be president.

“It’s not about fitness. I think he’s fit to be president. It’s ‘Should he be president?’ I don’t think he should be president. I thought he was the right president at the right time,” she responded.

She added, “We’ve got to look at the issues that we’re dealing with, coming forward with new solutions, not focusing on negativity and baggage of the past. So it’s not about being fit. It’s just I don’t think he’s the right person to be president.”

Christie’s harsh criticism of Haley comes after he defended her during the fourth Republican primary debate.

“We’re now 25 minutes into this debate and he has insulted Nikki Haley’s basic intelligence, not her positions, her basic intelligence,” Christie said after entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy attacked Haley’s intelligence. Christie said, “She is a smart accomplished woman you should stop insulting her.”
