Christian School Gives Firm Stance on LGBTQ in Email Sent to Parents

Members and supporters of the LGBTQ community attend the "Say Gay Anyway" rally in Miami Beach, Florida on March 13, 2022. - Florida's state senate on March 8 passed a controversial bill banning lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in elementary schools, a step that critics complain will hurt the LGBTQ community. Opposition Democrats and LGBTQ rights activists have lobbied against what they call the "Don't Say Gay" law, which will affect kids in kindergarten through third grade, when they are eight or nine years old. A Christian school in Florida told parents that students who are participating in gay, transgender, and non-binary lifestyles “will be asked to leave the school immediately.”

On June. 6 an email, which was obtained by NBC News, sent to parents by Administrator Barry McKeen from Grace Christian School read:

“We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal dignity.

Therefore, one’s biological sex must be affirmed and no attempts should be made to physically change, alter, or disagree with one’s biological gender — including, but not limited to, elective sex reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non-binary gender fluid acts of conduct (Genesis 1:26-28). Students in school will be referred to by the gender on their birth certificate and be referenced in name in the same fashion.”

The letter added: “We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender identity/lifestyle, self-identification, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful in the sight of God and the church (Genesis 2:24; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1; I Corinthians 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:2-7).”

“Students who are found participating in these lifestyles will be asked to leave the school immediately,” the email concluded.

In a Facebook video, Mckeen responded to NBC News and addressed the controversy.

Mckeen said that the school’s policy states even heterosexual students “shouldn’t be sexual at all” because “God condemns any sexual activity outside of marriage.”

Luke 11:28 says,  “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Mckeen also said that the policy, which they have had “since day number one,” is rooted in scripture and that God has spoken on these issues “explicitly” and “aggressively.”

“It is our policy now, it will be our policy going forward, because of what I said in the email to our parents on June the 6th. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change,” he said.
