Fox News anchor Chris Wallace is suggesting the Biden administration does not have “much of an answer” for the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“America’s Newsroom” anchor Bill Hemmer pointed out it has been 16 days since Vice President Kamala Harris was tapped to handle the crisis at the border and has yet to make a comment about it.

He asked Wallace, “What do you think this indicates about what this administration’s priorities are?”

Wallace replied, “It doesn’t seem that they have much of an answer to the crisis at the border and maybe that’s the reason that they are not pushing it.”

When discussing Biden’s explanation of what Harris’s role would look like, Wallace noted the president later clarified, “She’s in charge of diplomacy with Mexico and with the Northern Triangle countries to try to stem the flow to the border.”

While Wallace acknowledged Harris “has had a couple of phone calls with top officials in those countries,” he also pointed out she “hasn’t gone to the border and she hasn’t gone to the Northern Triangle and she hasn’t gone to Mexico, which kind of makes you wonder whether she knows this is a mess and doesn’t want her fingerprints on it.”

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered more than 172,000 migrants in March trying to enter along the southern border, as IJR reported.

CBP said in a press release the number is a “71 percent increase over February 2021.”

CBP Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Commissioner Troy Miller said, “CBP has experienced an increase in encounters and arrests. This is not new. Encounters have continued to increase since April 2020, and our past experiences have helped us be better prepared for the challenges we face this year.”

He added, “We are committed to balancing the need to maintain border security, care for those in our custody, and keep the American people and our workforce safe.”

During a press briefing in March, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki called the situation at the border a “crisis” but later clarified calling it “challenges on the border.”
